- The 2008 Update to the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association Recommendations for the Prevention of Stroke in Patients With Stroke and Transient Ischemic Attack states that the combination of aspirin and extended-release dipyridamole is recommended over aspirin alone for antiplatelet therapy.
- Based upon the 2007 American Heart Association consensus statement on hypertension, the blood pressure target for patients with established CAD is < 130/80 mm Hg. Among CAD patients with left ventricular systolic dysfunction, the goal is even more stringent at < 120/80 mm Hg.
